Adrian Newey till sjukhus efter krasch

Adrian Newey, Red Bulls chefdesigner, fördes till sjukhus efter en raceincident i en Ginetta G50. Verkar som tur är inte vara så allvarligt. Adrian är förutom världens bästa Formel 1 designer även ett stort Lotusfan. Han byggde, tillsammans med sin far, en Elan som han sedan använde som bruksbil och körde tusentals mil med. Han är (har åtminstone varit) även ägare till en Elise S1 och har även tävlat i en Exige GT3, en bil som var till salu på Pistonheads fram till alldeles nyligen.

Newey hospitalised after Ginetta crash

Red Bull Racing technical director Adrian Newey has been taken to hospital for precautionary checks after an accident in a Ginetta G50 race at Snetterton today.

Newey was driving a guest car in the British Touring Car Championship event when he was spun into the path of another car. After a heavy side-on impact, he was removed from the car by stretcher.

Ginetta chairman Lawrence Tomlinson issued a statement to confirm that Newey had escaped serious injury.

"Adrian has been taken to a local hospital as a precautionary measure after being clipped by Julien Draper of Barwell Motorsport which caused Tony Hughes of Speedworks to have a side on collision with Newey's DynoJet car," said Tomlinson.

"It's testament to the strength of the G50 roll cage that the car withstood heavy impact and there were no serious injuries."
